Strange Fandom and the Relationship Round Robin
You see some strange things on Facebook.

Someone I know on Facebook "...is now a fan of Gay Marriage."

Isn't that an odd phrase? A fan of gay marriage?

I'm picturing her with an enormous, rainbow-colored foam finger. Go, Gay Marriage!

I'm sure Gay Marriage appreciates all of its fan support though. I think it's facing Hetero Shacking Up in the quarterfinals. That's gonna be tough.

Doesn't really matter: whichever comes out on top is gonna have to contend with the winner of Friends With Benefits (unlikely) vs. Miserable But Staying Together for The Kids (a perennial powerhouse).

I just think it's funny that there is big honkin' "Are you single?" ad directly beneath your post. Gotta love keyword marketing.

So was it the phrase "Gay marriage" or the "Hetero Shacking Up" (or even, I suppose, "Giant foam finger") that triggered that particular ad?

It's fun to mess with the machine.
I mean: (Pimento cardigan) it's fun (kangaroo gold standard pharmaceuticals) to mess with (ipod scratch-n-sniff weightwatchers cannibal bingo) the machine.

Plus I think I just stumbled upon the title of this year's NaNoNovel:
"Scartch-N-Sniff Cannibal Bingo". Not sure what it will be about, but the title is intriguing, n'est ce pas?

I was going to say...this sounds like a twisted new version of the old George Jones song "The Race is On"...but I'm thinkin' I'm the only one that'd get the reference.
